Lady Raiders conclude two tournaments this weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders concluded their last fall tournaments leading up to the NCAA Individual Championships after competing at the Rice Invitational in Houston and the ITA Central Sectionals in Ann Arbor, Mich., this weekend.
At ITA Sectionals, the duo of Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Andreea Lila competed for a last chance to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships. Lila competed in singles, where she dropped her first-round match to 3-seeded and No. 55-ranked Piper Charney of Michigan. She would then pick up a ranked victory in the consolation draw where she defeated conference-foe and No. 118-ranked Chloe Noel of Oklahoma, 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles, the Lady Raider tandem took down the 2-seeded Michigan pair of Julia Fliegner and Reese Miller in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, to advance to the quarterfinals. There, they fought valiantly against No. 12-ranked Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual of TCU, falling in three sets by a 3-6, 6-2, 0-1 (9) score.
In Houston, a couple of Lady Raiders participated in the Rice Invitational in Arina Oreshchenkova and Elena Daskalova. The pairing would earn two doubles wins as they took down Texas A&M's Lizanne Boyer and Jeanette Mireles, 6-3, then beat UTSA's Vittoria Baccino and Letizia Corsini, 7-5.
In addition, both Daskalova and Oreshchenkova each recorded a singles win. Oreshchenkova defeated Rice's Saara Orav, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1, while Daskalova added another win over Rice when she overtook Maria Fernanda Martinez Hernandez, 7-6 (4), 1-6, 7-6 (9).
Up next, Avelina Sayfetdinova and Mariia Hlahola compete at the NCAA Doubles Championships in Waco, Texas from Nov. 19-24.
