
Men’s XC finishes fourth at Big 12 Championships

Prior to today, the men’s team finished 5th at the meet five times
WACO, Texas – The men's and women's Texas Tech cross country teams were paced by Juliet Cherubet and Solomon Kipchoge at the 2024 Big 12 Cross Country Championships Friday morning at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.

The No. 30 Tech men finished fourth for its best finish in program history scoring 101 points (2-5-18-36-40) – finished ahead of No. 24 Colorado who scored 122 points.

Meanwhile, the Tech women finished fifth in the team standings scoring 155 points (2-21-31-43-58), matching their best team finish since 2019 where they also placed fifth with 155 points.
Kipchoge led pack for the Red Raiders as he finished second overall with an 8k time of 22:08.48, just 1.5 seconds behind first. Ernest Cheruiyot finished fifth with a time of 22:25.78 as both Red Raiders earn All-Conference honors (top-10 finishers). Vincent Koech (22:57.37) finished 18th as Nathan Kapel (23:57.82 and Edwin Kiprono (24:00.13) rounded out the top-5 in 47th and 51st.
Cherubet paced the women's side as she placed second overall with a 6k time of 19:16.84 – 14 seconds behind WVU's Ceili McCabe. Anastasia Chepkorir placed 22nd at 20:12.70 as Sheilah Bii finished 33rd with a time of 20:37.80. Lily Mather (21:08.40) and Taytum Goodman (21:44.20) finished 48th and 70th, to round out Tech's top-5 runners.
