
Tech on the road for two matches at UTA, SMU

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are on the road again this weekend as they travel to UT Arlington for a match against the Mavericks on Friday, March 3 at 1 p.m., then head to Dallas for a contest against the No. 48 SMU Mustangs on Sunday, March 5 at 11 a.m.
The Lady Raiders are coming off a great weekend in Montgomery, Ala., where they finished second in the Blue Gray Tennis Classic.
First, Tech would sweep No. 58 Yale after getting singles wins from Olivia Peet, Cristina Tiglea, Metka Komac and Yekaterina Dmitrichenko. The Lady Raiders went on to pick up their second sweep of No. 31 Arizona this season in the semifinals after claiming the doubles point with wins at courts one and three, then adding three more singles victories from Peet, Avelina Sayfetdinova and Dmitrichenko.
In the finals of the tournament, Tech faced No. 38 Wake Forest where the Demon Deacons would win the match by a 4-2 score. Both Dmitrichenko and Arina Oreshchenkova collected singles wins in the competition at courts five and six, respectively.
Dmitrichenko went 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles last weekend and continues to lead the Lady Raiders with 17 singles victories on the season. She is also 7-0 in dual singles matches, which is a team high. In doubles, the tandem of Peet and Tiglea lead with five wins while Komac and Sayfetdinova have four wins together. In addition, both Tiglea and Metka Komac are the lone Lady Raiders ranked by the ITA as they check in at No. 40 in doubles.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Lady Raiders will face UT Arlington first this week. UTA boasts a 6-1 overall record on the season with its only loss coming against Wichita State, 4-0, on Feb. 11. In singles, Bruna Casasampere leads the team with 11 total singles wins. Just behind her in wins are Tara Gorinsek (10) and Liz Chileno (9). Chileno also holds a perfect 5-0 record at the one position. In doubles, two duos are 5-1 in dual matches in Gorinsek and Ana Paula Jimenez at court one and Chileno and Sarina Reinertsen at court two.
SMU comes into Sunday's match ranked No. 48 by the ITA. Holding a 6-4 record, the Mustangs have wins over ACU, VCU, No. 45 Arkansas and Kansas State. Their losses come at the hands of Wisconsin, Arizona State, No. 21 Kansas and No. 1 Texas. Against the Longhorns, SMU recorded two points in the match with wins at courts four and six. Three Mustangs lead the team with a team-best 21 singles wins in Hadley Doyle, Lana Mavor and Drew Morris. In doubles, Doyle and Mavor lead with 13 total wins while the pairing of Taylor Johnson and Jackie Nylander are right behind with 12. In the ITA rankings, Doyle checks in at No. 89 in singles and the Johnson/Nylander duo are No. 24 in doubles.
