
Tech ready for UTSA on Monday

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are playing in their fifth-consecutive home game as they face the UTSA Roadrunners at United Supermarkets Arena on Monday, November 20 at 6 p.m.
Texas Tech and UTSA will face each other for the 14th time in program history on Monday. The Lady Raiders hold an all-time record of 13-0 over the Roadrunners, with their last win coming at home by a 115-58 score on Dec. 29, 2019.
The Lady Raiders are coming off a historic win after downing the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions 91-45 on Friday night. In the game, Texas Tech held the Lions scoreless in the first quarter, which is a program record and first time a Lady Raider team has ever held an opponent to 0 points in a quarter.
This is also the second Texas Tech record broken this season as the team also tied the program record in points scored in a quarter when they totaled 37 points in the second quarter of the season opener against UTRGV.
Against the Lions, both Kilah Freelon and Jasmine Shavers recorded their first career double-doubles and the first of the season for Tech. Freelon tallied a career-high in points (14) and rebounds (11), while Shavers added 14 points and a career-best 10 boards in the game against the Lions.
Other Lady Raider notables:
- Texas Tech has held opponents to single-digit scoring in the first two quarters, as well as under 20 points in the first half, in all four contests.
- Four Lady Raiders were in double-figures against the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions - Bailey Maupin (17), Freelon (14), Shavers (14) and Jordyn Merritt (13). This is the second time this season that four players were in double figures as four Lady Raiders also posted double-digit scoring against UTRGV.
- The Lady Raiders totaled 56 rebounds against the Lions, which is the most in almost two years. The last time Tech had over 50 boards in a game was 51 vs. Texas State on Nov. 22, 2021.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
UTSA is 3-1 to start the season against Division I opponents for the first time since 2012. The Roadrunners have picked up victories against New Mexico State (58-55), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (66-59, OT) and UT Arlington (70-66), and dropped their only game to Arizona State (55-70). Against the Mavericks, Roadrunner Maya Linton collected the team's first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 boards, while Sidney Love posted a career-best 26 points on the night. The Roadrunners total 62.3 points per game and hold opponents to 62.5 points per game on .382 shooting. They also record a .220 three-point field goal percentage as well as 45.8 rebounds per game and 5.0 blocks per game.
