Komac, Tiglea earn Doubles MVP honors at Texas A&M Invite

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Both Metka Komac and Cristina Tiglea were named the Texas A&M Fall Invitational Doubles Co-MVPs after putting together a 2-1 record over the weekend.
Komac and Tiglea first defeated the Rice pair of Diae El Jardi and Federica Trevisan, 6-1, before earning their second victory together over Utah's Madison Tattini and Anastasia Goncharova, 6-2.
Tiglea, who led the Red Raiders with three doubles wins in the tournament, also added another doubles victory on the weekend when she grouped with Yekaterina Dmitrichenko to overtake the SMU duo of Cambelle Bouchard and Winslow Huth, 6-2.
Dmitrichenko, who was also paired with Avelina Sayfetdinova, picked up a victory after defeating Kaila Barksdale and Marcela Lopez (Utah), 6-3. In addition, Olivia Peet and Camryn Stepp posted another win for Tech when they beat Rice's Allison Zipoli and Darya Schwartzman, 6-2.
The Red Raiders totaled six singles victories over the weekend as Tiglea and Peet, who is ranked No. 115 by the ITA, led the team with a couple of wins.
Peet would win both of her matches in straight-sets as she first defeated Grace O'Donnell (Arkansas), 6-1, 6-4, then beat Kaila Barksdale (Utah) by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Tiglea would claim her two victories, also without dropping a set, against Arkansas' Yuhan Liu, 6-4, 6-3, and Utah's Madison Tattini, 6-4, 6-0.
Stepp and Komac both posted a singles win apiece for the Red Raiders as Stepp defeated Whitney Robbins (Arkansas), 6-0, 6-1, and Komac won against Lenka Stara (Arkansas), 6-4, 7-5.
