Red Raiders’ Aggressive Play Tops Utes 7-0

Tech gets win over Utah.
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's tennis was on fire Sunday against Utah. Texas Tech got their second match win in a row, their fourth of the year, defeating the Utes 7-0 without dropping a set.Â
The Red Raiders got off to a fast start in doubles play paced by Parker Wynn and Franco Ribero who sprinted to a 6-2 win. Â They were soon followed by Issac Arevalo and Reed Collier, whose aggressive play propelled them to a 6-4 victory.Â
The focused play continued into the singles matches where Arevalo dominated in his match, winning 6-0,6-0 to add to the Red Raider's lead. Tech continued their aggressive play as junior Dimitrios Azoidis handled Utah's Bruno Krenn in a (6-3, 6-3) decision. Sophomore Reed Collier and senior Illgiz Valiev finished things off as they both managed to get victories (6-4, 6-4) and (6-4, 6-3) respectively.Â
Head Coach Danny Whitehead loved what he saw but is still looking ahead.Â
"This was a good match for us. Now we are looking to build on the momentum of playing two weeks in a row. I like where we are right now as we head into the next few weeks of challenging matches."Â
Up Next: The Red Raiders will travel to Fort Worth and take on TCUÂ Saturday March 6.Â
