Tech defeats Shockers to get back in win column.
DALLAS --Â After two weeks of rest due to cancellations, the Texas Tech Men's Tennis took their talents to Dallas on Sunday to face Wichita State. The Red Raiders put together a team effort to take down the Shockers 4-3.Â
It was a hard fought match for the Red Raiders, but they started strong early on, winning a crucial doubles point. The duo of Illgiz Valiev and Dimitrios Azoidis highlighted doubles play, winning their match (6-2).Â
Singles was a back-and forth-battle. The Red Raiders scored all three of their singles points in matches that went to three sets. Down 2-1, Valiev tied the score when he took down Stephon Latinovic (6-4, 3-6, 6-4). Franco Ribero did his part in singles play, securing a victory with a score of (6-4, 3-6, 6-4). WIth the score tied at 3, Junior Issac Arevalo was the last man standing. After a hard fought battle, Arevalo got his team back in the win column, tallying a score of (2-6, 6-1, 6-2).Â
