Third straight year the program has matched or topped its school mark.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech baseball produced 16 student-athletes on the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 teams, the league office announced today.
Â
Ten Red Raiders earned first team accolades, including: senior Brian Klein, juniors Braxton Fulford, Parker Kelly, Cody Masters & Ryan Sublette and sophomores Dru Baker, Clayton Beeter, Max Marusak, Mason Montgomery & Tanner O'Tremba.
Â
Juniors Bryce Bonnin & Easton Murrell and sophomores Cal Conley, Micah Dallas, T.J. Rumfield & Cole Stilwell were named to the second team.
Â
The 16 honorees tops the previous program record of 11, accomplished in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. The 10 first team selections are one shy of the school record, established last season.
Â
Klein completes the Academic All-Big 12 sweep with his third-straight placement on the first team along with a nod to the 2016-17 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. It also marks back-to-back years of first team honors for Beeter, Fulford, Kelly, Masters and Sublette.
Â
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
Â
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
Â
The Red Raiders had their promising 2020 season shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They ended the season at 16-3 overall and reached No. 1 in the polls for the first time since 1997.
