Senior Felicity Maltby becomes second player in school history to advance to Round of 16
ORLANDO, Fla. – Writing her name into the Texas Tech Women's Tennis records book, senior Felicity Maltby became just the second singles player in school history to advance to the Round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship.
Â
After defeating Aiwen Zhu of UNLV in straight sets (6-4, 7-6(2)), Maltby is just the second player in school history to earn ITA All-America honors and the third honor for the program. Former Lady Raider Gabriela Talaba earned back-to-back All-America honors during her junior and senior seasons.
Â
"No player deserves this more than Felicity. She has given her heart and soul to this program and I am so excited to see her get to be an All-American," Head Coach Todd Petty said. "This run isn't over yet and she is really hungry to keep improving. Felicity is one of the greatest to wear the Double T."
Â
This is the first time Maltby has advanced to the Round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship. With the win, Maltby moves on to face Petra Melounova (Hawaii) on Wednesday. Start time will be announced after all matches have finished for the day.
