LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 3 Texas Tech baseball team closed its home stand with its first shutout of the season, defeating New Mexico State 7-0 on Tuesday at Rip Griffin Park.
Â
The Red Raiders (6-1) outhit the Aggies (7-2) 12-5 on the day with Tech putting up six runs through the middle three frames on the way to its sixth straight victory.
Â
Sophomore Bryce Bonnin impressed in his second start as a Red Raider, tossing a career-high 6.0 innings of shutout ball in the win. He struck out three while giving up four hits and walking two against a lineup that entered as the nation's top offense.
Â
The Red Raider bullpen continued its strong start to the season, allowing just one hit over the final three frames and retiring all nine Aggies it faced with a double play to close it out.
