August 20, 2018 | Baseball
The Red Raiders will face Nebraska, Mississippi State & Sam Houston State on March 1-3, 2019
LUBBOCK, Texas – The schedule for the 2019 Frisco College Baseball Classic presented by Baylor Scott & White Sports Performance Center at the STAR has been announced, which features three Texas Tech games on March 1-3, 2019, at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.
Â
The Red Raiders will face former Big 12 foe Nebraska on Friday, March 1, at 7 p.m., followed by Mississippi State on Saturday at 6 p.m., and will wrap up with Sam Houston State on Sunday, March 3, at 3 p.m., at the third annual tournament.
Â
Tech and the Cornhuskers last squared off in 2011, with the Red Raiders claiming two games in a three-game set played in Lubbock. The two teams have only played five times on a neutral field, as Tech tallied two victories in Tempe in 1996 (7-3) and Oklahoma City at the Big 12 Tournament in 2005 (5-3).
Â
The Red Raiders are 3-1 all-time against the Bulldogs, meeting for the first time in 13 years during the 2017 campaign in Starkville. Tech split the two-game set, with a 5-2 victory on Opening Day. The two neutral-site games came in the 2004 NCAA Atlanta Regional, as Tech won both games against MSU by scores of 10-6 & 14-7. Last season, both squads earned berths to the College World Series and were on opposite sides of the bracket.
Â
Tech and the Bearkats have split both their total matchups at 6-6 and neutral-field games at 1-1, first squaring off in 1955 and last playing each other in the 2017 NCAA Lubbock Regional. It'll be the second time the two teams have faced each other in a March tournament, as both squads participated in the Houston College Classic in 2014.
