Ronit Bisht and Carlos DiLaura advanced to the doubles semifinals at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational.
MIDLAND, Texas – Ronit Bisht and Carlos DiLaura secured their spot in the semifinals with a pair of doubles victories for the Texas Tech men's tennis team Saturday on day two of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas.
"Today wasn't our best result singles wise, but we hopefully we will learn from today in order to get better," Texas Tech head coach Brett Masi said. "Carlos and Ronit played solid doubles today. Hopefully, we will be able to get some hardware tomorrow."
Bisht and DiLaura dialed up a hard-fought 8-6 win over Texas' William Jou and Colin Marks in the Round of 16 and blitzed Jonas Maier and Jack Swindells of Utah State by an 8-2 margin during the quarterfinals.
Bisht, the event's top singles seed, was edged by a 6-4, 6-4 decision by Wichita State's Eddie Stoica in the Round of 16. In consolation action, Nikolas Moceanu tucked away a second straight win and emerged with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Sean Huynh of Denver.
