Federici earns top seed in women’s singles and doubles brackets
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Women's Tennis team opens the 2016 fall season with the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational this weekend in Midland, Texas.
Sophomore Sabrina Federici earned the top seed in the women's singles. She and doubles teammate Alba Cortina-Pou were also selected as the top seed in the women's doubles and will have a bye during the opening round of the tournament.
"The team is excited to get started and test themselves early in the season," Head Coach Todd Petty said.
Texas Tech enters 2016-17 after a record-setting 25-win season and the program's second straight appearance to the NCAA Sweet 16. The Lady Raiders return all seven players and welcome newcomer Alba Cortina-Pou to the 2016-17 team.
The Lady Raiders had five individuals ranked in the Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Singles preseason rankings including Federici who came in at No. 122.
