Texas Tech head coach Tim Tadlock will throw out first pitch for the Houston Astros on Saturday
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head coach Tim Tadlock will throw out the ceremonial first pitch Saturday evening before the Houston Astros host the Los Angeles Angels in a 6:10 p.m. start at Minute Maid Park.
Â
Tadlock, the reigning Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year, is tentatively scheduled to throw out the first pitch around 5:55 p.m. Saturday. He is attending the game as part of Texas Tech Night promotion sponsored by the Texas Tech Alumni Association.
Â
Under Tadlock's watch, Texas Tech has transformed into one of the top baseball programs in the country as the Red Raiders are one of seven teams nationally to advance to the College World Series twice over the past three seasons.
Â
The Red Raiders closed the 2016 season with a No. 4 final national ranking (D1Baseball.com) after claiming the Big 12 regular-season title and eventually reaching the College World Series in Omaha. Tech wrapped its most successful season in program history with a 3-2 victory over top-seeded Florida, its first ever win in the College World Series.
Â
Tadlock will lead the Red Raiders to Minute Maid Park during the 2017 season as Texas Tech is scheduled to take part in the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic. Tech opens the three-day event with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch on March 3 against Texas A&M.
