Cailleau of Men’s Tennis Drops Opening Round Match at USTA/ITA National Indoors

Jolan Cailleau will play Friday in the consolation draw.
FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – Jolan Cailleau of the Texas Tech men's tennis team was handed a 6-3, 6-3 defeat during Thursday's opening round of the 2016 USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in the New York.
For Cailleau, it marked only his fourth loss in 14 fall singles matches with three of his setbacks coming against fellow ranked opponents. Florian Lakat of California is ranked No. 13 in the nation. The Belgium native will return to action Friday in the consolation draw.
"It was a tough first round matchup for Jolan," Texas Tech assistant coach Jordan Szabo said. "Lakat was serving extremely well which made it hard for Jolan especially on a fast indoor hard court to return serve. They took advantage of their opportunities, and Jolan wasn't able to. I know the type of competitor Jolan is. He'll be excited, hungry to learn from this match and be ready to get after it tomorrow."
