Red Raider Preview: Idaho State

The Red Raiders will play their fourth game over a seven-day span on Friday.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's basketball team gets right back into action after splitting its two games at the Cancun Challenge in Mexico and squares off with Idaho State Friday at the United Supermarkets Arena.
Tipoff is schedule for 2 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised by FOX Sports Southwest along with the FOX Sports Go app. Chuck Heinz and Craig Wells will serve as the announcing team with Adam Doyle as the sideline reporter.
The Texas Tech Sports Network will carry the game live on 100.7 FM and 950 AM in Lubbock. Geoff Haxton will have the call. The radio broadcast also will be available on the Texas Tech Sports Network radio affiliates, online at www.TexasTech.com and the TuneIn Radio app.
Texas Tech (4-1) is hitting the hardwood for the fourth time in seven days. Most recently, the Red Raiders responded with a 75-51 victory over Utah State on Wednesday after being handed a 67-65 defeat by Auburn on Tuesday at the Cancun Challenge in Mexico.
The win over Utah State marked the 100th victory for head coach Chris Beard at the NCAA level over four-plus seasons between McMurry (2012-13) Angelo State (2013-15), Little Rock (2015-16) and Texas Tech (2016-17).
The Red Raiders and Idaho State (0-5) will meet for the first time on the hardwood. It's the first of three opponents that Texas Tech faces for the initial time in 2016-17. The others are Incarnate Word and Longwood during the nonconference season.
Fans can buy tickets to Friday's game for as low as $5 online on gameday at www.TexasTech.com as part of the program's Black Friday special or in person at the United Supermarkets Arena Ticket Office starting 90 minutes prior to tipoff.
More season tickets have already been sold for 2016-17 than all of last season. Fans are encouraged to purchase season tickets now to reserve the best available seats. Reserved season tickets are on-sale for as low as $199.
Fans are reminded to go clear at all Texas Tech basketball games. The new clear bag policy provides a safer atmosphere and speeds up the entry process into the United Supermarkets Arena.
About Texas Tech
Texas Tech has been dominant in the second half and posted 42.4 points per game. The Red Raiders have outscored their opponents by double figures during the second 20 minutes in all five games fueled by a 45-19 against Utah State last time out.
Texas Tech has four players averaging in double figures headed by Aaron Ross' 14.8 points per game. He has connected for 56.3 percent from the floor, good enough for a ninth place tie in the Big 12. Ross has reached double figures in all four games he's played in this season.
Anthony Livingston has picked up 13.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He is coming off an explosive 28-point effort during the Utah State game where he buried five three-pointers. For the season, Livingston has drained 2.2 treys per game which is seventh among the Big 12 leaders.
Keenan Evans has secured 12.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game from the point guard position. He has started 37 straight games for the Red Raiders dating back to the 2015-16 opener. Evans has piled up 10-plus points in three of five games.
Zach Smith has tucked away 11.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. He racked up 21 points on an impressive 9-of-10 from the floor sparked by four dunks. The 21 points was Smith's second-highest career scoring output and his 2.0 blocks per game are once again towards the top of the Big 12 in third position.
Texas Tech's top bench performers are Justin Gray and Devin Thomas, who broke into the starting lineup against Utah State. Gray has totaled 8.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game whereas Thomas has handed out a team-leading 16 assists through five games.
About Idaho State
The Bengals have dropped all five of their decisions, three of which have come by single digits. Idaho State fell 91-82 to Eastern Kentucky in overtime followed by a 71-67 setback to NJIT in Mexico.
Novak Topalovic has posted 9.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He has knocked down 20-of-38 from the floor. The Serbian native amassed 15 points and 16 rebounds at Utah Valley State on Nov. 16.
ISU's leading scorer Ethan Telfair has secured a team-leading 21.3 points per game. He has missed the team's last two games and is out for Friday's game.
Brandon Boyd has garnered 15.0 points per game followed by Geno Luzcando who has come away with 14.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Boyd poured in 26 points during the NJIT game last time out.
