Lady Raiders Travel to Waco for ITA Texas Regionals

Four singles, two doubles earn top seeds at regional tournament this weekend
WACO, Texas – Four athletes and two doubles teams will represent the Texas Tech Women's Tennis team in the main draw of the ITA Texas Regionals held Thursday through Monday in Waco, Texas.
"We are looking forward to getting most of the team together for the first time and spend quality time on the road," Head Coach Todd Petty said. "Regionals is a great opportunity to test where we are late in the fall and look at what we need to clean up in the offseason."
Juniors Gabriela Talaba, Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici and sophomore Alex Valenstein earned regional seeds in this weekend's tournament. Federici leads the team with an 8-1 record this fall. Talaba, who has only played in one tournament this semester, has posted a 2-1 record.
Doubles teams Valenstein and Talaba and Federici and Dvorak also earned a top-nine seed.
The tournament begins Thursday at 9 a.m. with the doubles main draw round of 64 followed by the singles main draw round of 128.
The Lady Raiders will face student-athletes from Abilene Christian, Baylor, Lamar, Rice, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston State, SMU, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas, Texas Southern, Houston, Incarnate Word, North Texas, UT-Arlington and UTSA.
