Tech Takes Second At William H. Tucker Intercollegiate

Hannes Ronneblad earned his second top-five finish of the season, as Tech placed second as a team at the Tucker Intercollegiate this weekend.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --Texas Tech men's golf took runner-up honors at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, in Albuquerque, N.M., this weekend.
The Red Raiders were consistent all weekend, posting three team rounds of par or better at the par 72 UNM Championship Course. Tech played 36 holes on Friday, firing a two-under-par 286 on the first 18, and following that up with a three-under-par 285 later in the day. Tech shot an even-par 288 to finish at -5 overall, one of only two teams in the 16-team field to finish under par.
The Red Raiders were led by three top-10 finishes, individually. Hannes Ronneblad earned his second individual top-five finish of the season, carding a season-best three-round score of 211 (-5) to finish fifth. Ronneblad registered a 67 in round two, his best round of the season, sandwiched between a 71 in round one, and a 73 on Saturday.
Henry Todd and Hurly Long tied for sixth (-3, 213) to join Ronneblad in the top 10. Todd shot a season-low 68 to get the weekend started, and followed that up with a one-over-par 73 in round two, and finished his weekend with an even-par 72 on Saturday.
Long was one of just five players to shoot par or better in all three rounds this weekend. He started his weekend with an even-par 72, before firing his best round of the season later that day, a two-under-par 70. On Saturday, Long carded a one-under-par 71.
Federico Zucchetti made his Red Raider debut, finishing in a tie for 39th, with a total of 224 (+8). He shot 75 and 77 on Friday, before finishing on a high note with an even-par 72 on Saturday. Freshmen Ivan Ramirez (75-75-81) and Jordan Sanders (79-73-79) tied for 71st place, each shooting a 231 (+15) for the weekend. Adam Strom shot a 85-84-85 for a weekend total of 254.
Texas Tech will wrap up its fall slate at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 18-20, in Orlando, Fla., at Isleworth Golf & Country Club.
