LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech baseball program, in conjunction with the Red Raider Reach program, gave back to the Lubbock community on Monday with a trip to the children's hospital at University Medical Center.
The Red Raiders brought a smile to the face of several children as they walked into each room. In addition to visiting with patients throughout the children's floor at UMC, the Red Raiders also posed for several photos and signed autographs.
The trip was part of the Red Raider Reach program that was founded during the 2014-15 academic year by former men's basketball student-athlete Clark Lammert. The program is designed to increase outreach efforts into the Lubbock community by all members of Texas Tech's athletics programs.
The visit was the first of several planned community projects for the Red Raiders this fall as the program will also take part in this weekend's Wreck Hunger Food Drive as well as several other local initiatives.
Texas Tech opens its fall team workouts later this week which will conclude with the Red-Black Series. A full Red-Black Series schedule will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
