Pereira, Sordet Named to PING All-Region Team

The two Red Raiders join 13 others from the Big 12 conference to be honored on this year's PING All-Region team.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Two members of the Texas Tech men's golf team, Mito Pereira and Clement Sordet, have been named to the PING All-Region Central team on Saturday afternoon, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
This marks the second All-Region honor for Sordet, who was named to the team in 2012, but the first for freshman Mito Pereira.
Sordet, one of 24 candidates for this year's Ben Hogan award, is currently ranked 14th in the country, according to Golfweek player rankings. The senior leads the Red Raiders in stroke average at 70.6 and has recorded nine top 10 finishes in the last 12 tournaments, including individual titles at the NCAA Lubbock Regional and the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
The award caps off a strong rookie season for Pereira who comes in second on the team in stroke average at 71.9. The Chilean native owns three top 5 finishes this season as well as earning All-Big 12 Championship team honors in Tulsa.
The Red Raiders are two of 15 conference players to receive this year's PING All-Region honors: Scott Fernandez (Iowa State), Michael Gellerman (Oklahoma), Doug Ghim (Texas), Andreas Gjesteby (Baylor), Gavin Hall (Texas), Kramer Hickok (Texas), Grant Hirschman (Oklahoma), Beau Hossler (Texas), Kyle Jones (Baylor), Max McGreevy (Oklahoma), Jordan Niebrugge (Oklahoma State), Scottie Scheffler (Texas) and Kristoffer Ventura (Oklahoma State).
Texas Tech made its 14th straight NCAA postseason appearance this season and its 11th NCAA Championship with a runner-up finish at the Lubbock Regional at the Rawls Golf Course.
