TEXAS TECH -- KANSAS STATE POSTGAME QUOTES
KANSAS STATE 41, TEXAS TECH 38 - FINAL
SATURDAY, JANUARY 31, 2015
UNITED SUPERMARKETS ARENA - LUBBOCK, TEXAS
Candi Whitaker
Texas Tech Head Coach
Opening Statement
"Obviously not a good performance. We didn't have the fight I thought we needed down the stretch. We obviously had trouble getting shots to fall. No one is going to give you Big12 games, you have to come out and earn every possession."
On what was Kansas State's key to defensive rebounds
"Breanna Lewis has great length, she was able to get to a lot of them and I felt like we were battling her for. I thought they played her, I thought they beat us to lose balls and beat us to some rebounds. At times we just couldn't get our hands on them."
On if she was disappointed on the shot selection
"No. I though most of them were open. I thought we moved the ball pretty well at times. I thought our post players hid a lot, I don't think they worked hard enough to get touches in soft spots and areas we needed to penetrate the zone. I thought most of our guards took open shots and I would say a hand full were a little early, but a lot of them were open."
Amber Battle
Senior Guard
On what was Kansas State doing
"I just think we weren't being patient on offense and we weren't attacking their zone like we should of. Not like we were practicing in practice."
On how tough it was getting offensive rebounds
"We practice offensive rebounds out of a zone and we just have to go pursue rebounds. We didn't do that as well as we should of."
On scoring in double digits and how tough it is to lose by three
"My points don't really matter to me. It's either we win or we lose. This is a team sport so the high scorer doesn't really matter."
Jeff Mittie
Kansas State Head Coach
Opening statement
"Hard fought win. Both teams I thought fought really hard. I thought defensively both teams really fought, both were very much in tune with where points needed to come from for each team. It was such a defensive battle all day long. Offensively both teams struggled. I mean we struggled in the first half with turnovers we had eleven. We took a little better care of the ball in the second half but in the end we just didn't find enough offense. I thought our rebounding was better, that was critical. They didn't get any second chances so that's how we ended up with this win."
On winning a Big 12 game shooting 31%
"No. It's hard to do. Hard to do when you don't have a decisive number at the free throw line that you can go to. It's one thing if you do that and we go to the line 28 times and you go 26 of 28. So no it's hard to do."
