Red Raiders In The NFL: Week 13 Update

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech football program featured eight former players who were active on NFL rosters during Week 13 of the NFL season. Each week, TexasTech.com will recap the performances from the likes of Danny Amendola, Michael Crabtree and Louis Vasquez.
Six Red Raiders are currently eligible for Pro Bowl voting: Amendola, Crabtree, Vasquez, Manuel Ramirez, LaAdrian Waddle and Cody Davis.
Jace Amaro (TE) -- New York Jets
Week 13 Matchup: New York Jets 23, New York Giants 20
Amaro will miss the entire 2015 season after being place on injured reserve following shoulder surgery. Amaro, who was injured in the preseason opener at Detroit, finished his 2014 rookie season tied for second on the Jets with 38 catches for 345 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Amaro played three seasons at Texas Tech (2011-13) and was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Jets.
Danny Amendola (WR) -- New England Patriots
Week 13 Matchup: Philadelphia 35, New England 28
Amendola scored yet again in New England's loss to Philadelphia, hauling in an 11-yard TD pass from Tom Brady. Amendola finished with seven catches for 62 yards, and a touchdown. He also completed a 36-yard pass. He now has 333 receptions, 3,141 yards and 13 TDs in his NFL career. Amendola played four seasons at Texas Tech (2004-07) before being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2008 by the Dallas Cowboys.

Week 13 Matchup: Kansas City 34, Oakland 20
Crabtree made a great catch while getting sandwiched between two KC defenders to give Oakland a halftime lead on Sunday. He finished with five catches for 45 yards and touchdown. He has 66 catches for 760 yards and 7 TDs this season, ranking in the NFL's top 30 in all of those categories. Crabtree played two seasons at Texas Tech (2007-08) before the 49ers selected him with the 10th overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Cody Davis (DB) -- St. Louis Rams
Week 13 Matchup: Arizona 27, St. Louis 3
Davis saw the field for 27 snaps on special teams and one on defense for St. Louis against the Cardinals. Davis has continued to play in every game for the Rams in the 2015 season to this point. Davis was a four-year letterman with the Red Raiders (2009-12) and then signed as an undrafted free agent with the Rams in 2013.
Bradley Marquez (WR) -- St. Louis Rams
Week 13 Matchup: Arizona 27, St. Louis 3
Marquez caught a career high-tying three passes for 16 yards on Sunday, bringing his total to 10 on the season, collecting 56 yards. Marquez, a reserve wide receiver for the Rams who also plays a significant role on special teams, previously caught eight passes for 74 yards during the preseason to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. He played four seasons at Texas Tech (2010-14) before the Rams signed him as an undrafted free agent this past spring.
Manuel Ramirez (OL) -- Detroit Lions
Week 13 Matchup: Green Bay 27, Detroit 23
Ramirez started at center in Detroit's loss to Green Bay on Thursday night. Ramirez was drafted by Detroit in the fourth round of the 2007 draft. Ramirez played four seasons at Texas Tech (2003-06) before being selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Lions.

Week 13 Matchup: Denver 17, San Diego 3
Vasquez saw the field for four special teams snaps in Denver's win over San Diego. Over his seven-year career Vasquez has played in 98 games for both the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos. Vasquez played four seasons at Texas Tech (2005-08) before being selected in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers.
LaAdrian Waddle (OL) -- Detroit Lions
Week 13 Matchup: Green Bay 27, Detroit 23
Waddle saw 23 offensive snaps on Thursday in Detroit's loss to Green Bay. After missing the first two games of the season recovering from off season knee surgery Waddle has come back strong for Detroit.Waddle played four seasons at Tech (2009-12) before being signed by the Lions as an undrafted free agent.
Wes Welker (WR) -- St. Louis Rams
Week 13 Matchup: Arizona 27, St. Louis 3
Wes Welker was signed by the Rams on Nov. 9, making him the third Red Raider on the squad. After Sunday's two-catch, 15-yard performance, he has nine catches for 72 yards this season. Welker's decorated NFL career has included 899 receptions totaling 9894 yards and 50 touchdowns to go along with two Super Bowl appearances. Welker spent four seasons at Tech (2000-03) before being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2004 by the San Diego Chargers.
