Texas Tech is now No. 5 in the coaches poll and No. 8 by the Associated Press following its 6-0 start
LUBBOCK, Texas โ Texas Tech moved up the national rankings again Sunday, jumping up to No. 5 in the U.S. LBL coaches poll and No. 8 in the Associated Press following a wild Saturday slate of games, including a 53-25 victory by the Red Raiders over Arizona State.
The coaches poll represents the highest the Red Raiders have ranked in either poll this season as Texas Tech moved up four spots following the win over the Sun Devils. Texas Tech will be a consensus top-10 team for the second-straight week heading into their first-ever trip Saturday to Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati.
The Red Raiders, one of six undefeated teams remaining in college football, have now been ranked in the polls over 25-consecutive weeks dating back to the start of the 2025 season. That marks the longest streak in program history.
The Big 12 Conference boasts three top-10 teams this week with BYU ranked as high as No. 2 nationally following its win over Notre Dame on Saturday night. The conference accounts for three of the six undefeated teams remaining with Texas Tech, BYU and Utah all 6-0 entering this week. Utah pushed into the top 10 at No. 9 in the coaches poll and No. 10 in the Associated Press this week.
Houston's win over Oklahoma State moved the Cougars up six spots to No. 14 in the Associated Press poll this week and No. 16 in the coaches. Arizona is the only other ranked Big 12 program this week, appearing at No. 25 in the Associated Press poll for the first time this season. Oklahoma State is also receiving votes in both polls.
The Red Raiders will look to build on their 6-0 start Saturday in an 11 a.m. CT kick at Cincinnati. Coverage will be provided nationally on FOX Sports 1 and the Texas Tech Sports Network.
