Dowdy Earns Bronze for USA in St. Lucia

Amanda Dowdy picked up a career-best podium finish on Sunday at the NORCECA Continental Tour

PIGEON POINT, St. Lucia – Former Texas Tech volleyball standout Amanda Dowdy earned bronze at the St. Lucia Beach Volleyball Tournament on the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) Continental Tour on Sunday in Pigeon Point, St. Lucia.
It was a career-best podium finish for Dowdy and the best team finish internationally for her and teammate Heather McGuire in 2015. The duo dispatched Nicaragua's Lolette Rodriguez and Elia Torres, 2-0 (21-14, 21-9).

One of the most prolific attackers in program history, Dowdy recorded 1,495 kills over her career, which still ranks second all-time at Texas Tech. Her name is prominently featured in the Tech single-season and single-game sections of the record book.
In 2014, Dowdy was named the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Beach Volleyball Newcomer of the Year after collecting 64 blocks for a 1.16 blocks per game average. Her totals ranked third among women last year.
Partnering with McGuire for 11 tournaments, the duo has finished in the top 10 on five separate occasions.
