The Red Raiders (10-0) took the first set, 25-18, and only got better as the match went on, taking the second, 25-17, before dominating the third, 25-9, to finish the sweep. Texas Tech has put together a double-digit winning streak for the eighth time in school history, and the first since 1996, when the Red Raiders started 15-0.
Lauren Douglass and Mikia Mills each had eight kills to lead the Red Raiders, and Meghan Stacy added seven more off the bench.
"It's nice having so many options on the attacking end," Flora said. "It's certainly a change. We were able to bring Meghan [Stacy] and Audrey [Fragniere] into the game and they both played clean games. Meghan got a lot of sets and took some quality swings. That's big-time for her to step right in and perform that way."
Douglass' eight kills came on only 12 attacks, and she made just one error, for a hitting percentage of .583. Douglass was already second in the Big 12 in hitting percentage entering the weekend (.406).
"Those numbers are so great because we have a battle going at setter," Flora said. "Lauren isn't missing a beat, whether it's Emily [Ruetter] or Marguerite [Grubb] setting her up. She has built a nice rapport with both. Lauren made some smart, efficient swings, but she also brought the thunder at times, which was good to see."
As a team, the Red Raiders hit .267, with 42 kills. Emily Ruetter got the start at setter, and delivered, logging 33 assists and seven digs.
Texas Tech put together arguably its best defensive performance of the year. The Red Raiders held ACU to a hitting percentage of .010, which was a season low for Tech, and the fourth time the Red Raiders have held an opponent under .100 this season. Tech is now 19-0 under Flora in such performances.
Tech had seven blocks as a team, and Rachel Brummitt registered 17 digs.
The Red Raiders will wrap up today's Lone Star Showdown doubleheader when they take on Weber State, at 6 p.m., in the United Supermarkets Arena.
