Withrow, Custred Named Top Summer League Prospects

LUBBOCK, Texas - A pair of Texas Tech junior right-handed pitchers received recognition by Perfect Game as the publication ranked Matt Withrow the No. 9 prospect in the California Collegiate League and Matt Custred was tabbed 21st following the collegiate summer season.
Withrow helped lead the Santa Barbara Foresters to the National Baseball Congress World Series title. The Foresters finished the summer schedule with a 41-17 overall record while Withrow posted four saves and a 0.56 ERA while striking out 21 and allowing seven walks.
Custred helped lead the Los Angeles Brewers to the California Collegiate League championship with a 29-7 overall record on the summer.
Custred made 10 appearances with a 2-0 record and one save with a 3.18 ERA in 17.0 innings pitched during the summer with 21 strikeouts and 11 walks allowed.
Both Withrow and Custred were named California Collegiate League All-Stars while Custred was named the All-Star Game Most Valuable Player.
