Texas Tech Tied For Seventh in Desert Classic

PALM DESERT, Calif. — Texas Tech freshman Hannes Ronneblad fired a 3-under par 69 to lead the Red Raiders to a 2-over 290 in the first round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at The Classic Club Golf Course on Friday.
No. 39 Tech is tied for seventh along with San Francisco, Loyola Marymount and UC Santa Barbara. Colorado leads all teams at 16-under (272).
Junior Esteban Restrepo followed his successful week in La Quinta with a 1-over 73 on Friday while Matias Dominguez, Clement Sordet and Henry Todd all carded 2-over 74s.
Freshman Corbin Kasten rounded the out the first round scores with a 6-over 78.
Tech will play the second of three rounds on Saturday and finish up the tournament on Sunday.
