Texas Tech Releases 2015 Baseball Schedule

Texas Tech will play 34 home games at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park in 2015.
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball program and third-year head coach Tim Tadlock released the Red Raiders 56-game schedule for the 2015 season Thursday morning.
Texas Tech's schedule is highlighted by 34 home games at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park while playing 22 contests against seven NCAA Tournament teams from last season and playing marquee non-conference series on the road at Cal State Fullerton and San Diego State. In addition, Tech will play three Big 12 series at home against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season.
The Red Raiders, who are coming off their first appearance at the College World Series, open the season with 13 of their first 14 games at home during the first three weeks of the season. Tech welcomes San Francisco on opening weekend, Feb. 13-15, for four games while Opening Day is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13 against the Dons at 2 p.m.

Following a season-long nine-game homestand to start the 2015 season, Tech will travel to Abilene Christian on Feb. 24 for its first road game of the season at Crutcher Scott Field.
The Red Raiders will wrap up non-conference weekend competition with back-to-back weekend series in California starting at Cal State Fullerton (Mar. 6-8) before traveling to San Diego State (Mar. 13-15).
Tech faces nine non-conference opponents before the start of Big 12 play, including Sacramento State in Lubbock (Feb. 26-Mar. 1) for a four-game series. The Hornets won the Western Athletic Conference regular season and postseason titles last season with a 40-win campaign.
The Red Raiders will open Big 12 play on the road for the sixth straight season with a three-game series at Oklahoma (Mar. 20-22) at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman.
Tech opens its Big 12 home schedule with three consecutive weekends at Rip Griffin Park as it hosts NCAA Tournament participant Kansas (Mar. 27-29), College World Series opponent TCU (Apr. 2-4) and Baylor (Apr. 10-12).
After traveling to Kansas State (Apr. 17-19), the Red Raiders will head to Midland, Texas, for the second straight season to play at Security Bank Ballpark, home of the Oakland Athletics Double-A affiliate Midland Rockhounds, while facing Abilene Christian for a neutral site contest on Apr. 21 at 6:30 p.m.
Last season the Red Raiders played in Midland against New Mexico with over 5,000 fans in attendance to see Tech's 8-1 midweek victory over the Lobos.
Tech concludes its Big 12 home schedule facing defending Big 12 regular season champion Oklahoma State, Apr. 24-26, while beginning a five-game homestand that ends with a two-game midweek series against Grand Canyon (Apr. 28-29) at Rip Griffin Park.
The Red Raiders will play their final two Big 12 Conference series on the road at Texas (May 1-3) and at West Virginia (May 14-16) with a home midweek doubleheader against California (May 5) in between.
The top eight teams in the league will advance to the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship (May 20-24) in Tulsa, Okla., at ONEOK Field, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers Double-A affiliate the Tulsa Drillers. It marks the first time the league tournament will be played in Tulsa after having the tournament twice in Arlington, Texas (2002 and 2004) and 16 years in Oklahoma City since the start of the league in 1997.
2015 SCHEDULE NOTES:
- Texas Tech will face seven NCAA Tournament opponents from a year ago, including Sacramento State, Cal State Fullerton, San Diego State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas for a total of 22 games.
- The Red Raiders will face five opponents that captured a regular season or postseason conference championship, including New Mexico (Mountain West regular season), San Diego State (Mountain West postseason), Sacramento State (WAC regular season and postseason), Oklahoma State (Big 12 regular season) and TCU (Big 12 postseason).
- Tech will host the sixth-annual Brooks Wallace Memorial Series hosting Northern Illinois (Feb. 20-22)... The Huskies head to Lubbock for the fourth time during the last five years.
- The Red Raiders have 34 home games scheduled... Tech went 33-4 at home a year ago while tying the school record for home wins in a season (1993)... Tech's school record for home games in a season is 38 (1991 and 1996).
- Tech's longest homestand of the 2015 season is the first nine games of the season (Feb. 13-22) facing San Francisco for a four-game series, Nevada (Feb. 17) in a midweek game and taking on NIU for four games.
- The Red Raiders will conclude the regular season playing 6-of-8 games on the road.
- Tech's longest stretch away from home at one time is four consecutive games (Apr. 17-21), which includes a neutral site game, while never playing more than three straight road games all season.
- Tech's schedule includes only four midweek road/neutral site games... The Red Raiders played six a year ago and nine in 2013 during Tadlock's first season as head coach.
- Tech will face two first-time opponents with both Sacramento State (Feb. 26-28) and California (May 5 - DH) traveling to the South Plains this season.
