Marguerite Grubb (4) and Breeann David (6) were named to the Capital One Academic All-District Second Team in District 7, on Thursday.
LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech volleyball team had two student-athletes honored as members of the Capital One Academic All-District teams, which are presented annually by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Breeann David and Marguerite Grubb were each named to District 7's second team, making Texas Tech the only program in the Big 12 with more than one honoree in 2014.
David, sporting a 3.52 GPA and majoring in exercise sport science, ranks second on the team with 3.06 kills per set. David was named to the 2013 Big 12 All-Academic first team in 2013.
Grubb majors in business and carries a 4.0 GPA. She has started 17 matches for Tech this season at setter and averages 9.67 assists per set, which ranks seventh in the Big 12. She was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team in 2013.
The all-district teams are determined based off a vote by CoSIDA members. Student-athletes must have a composite GPA of 3.30 to be eligible.
