LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior Kelsi Baker scored 17 points in the second half and freshman Dayo Olabode added a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Texas Tech to a 65-57 win over Morgan State on Sunday at United Supermarkets Arena.
Tech (4-0) outlasted the Bears (2-3) after being up 30-29 at halftime. The Lady Raiders played the majority of the first half without Baker, who picked up her second foul in less than two minutes.
Olabode and redshirt sophomore Minta Spears scored 23 of Tech's 30 points in the first half on 8 of 10 shooting from the field, including three-straight 3-point field goals from Spears.
She finished with 13 in the game - her third time in double figures in the first four games.
Baker and Olabode then combined to create tough matchups in the paint during the second half, allowing Tech to take the lead for good with a 10-3 run to make it 47-40 midway through the half.
The Lady Raiders outscored the Bears 34-18 in the paint. Tech is averaging 30 points per game in the paint and outscoring opponents by an average of 10 per game.
Tech is 4-0 to start the season for the first time since 2011-12. The Lady Raiders won their first 14 that year.
The Lady Raiders now head to warmer temperatures this week for the Junkanoon Jam in the Bahamas to take on Purdue (2-1) at 2:15 p.m. Friday. They will play either George Washington (2-2) or N.C. State (4-0) on Saturday.
