Senior Kelsi Baker, junior Rayven Brooks and junior Jamie Roe all scored 10 points each for the Lady Raiders, who won the battle on the boards with Purdue, 33-32.
Tech (4-1) suffered its first loss of the season and will now face NC State (4-2) in the third-place game at 12 p.m. CT Saturday.
Purdue (3-1) shot out to a 30-10 lead midway through the first half thanks in part to Hayden Hamby's seven points off her long shots. Then the Lady Raiders began to put together a run of their own.
Brooks hit a 3-pointer from the corner followed by CookTaylor's jumper to get things started. Baker worked inside for a traditional 3-point play before CookTaylor hit her lone trey of the game to cap the 11-0 run for the Lady Raiders to pull within nine points.
But Purdue continued to create some separation on the scoreboard and floor with Hamby's long jumpers and April Wilson. Wilson led the Boilermakers with 13 points while Liza Clemons and Whitney Bays added 12 each. Hamby ended with 10.
It was the first time this season the Tech was outscored in the paint (32-12).
