LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team volunteered Saturday morning at the 2014 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. The event had close to 8,000 participants this year.
The Red Raiders, who have now volunteered at the event for the past seven years, had all of its student-athletes and numerous members from its coaching staff attend the event.
"It's great to once again be a part of this event," said senior shortstop Tim Proudfoot. "We enjoy coming out and helping in the community. This event benefits so many individuals and so many families."
The event, now in its 20th year in Lubbock, serves as the primary fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and research. It is one of the several national events held by the Komen organization.
