No. 7 Red Raiders Lead Tavistock After Round One

Guillermo Pereira's sensational first round has placed him on top of the individual leaderboard and he currently has a two-stroke lead over Vanderbilt's Henry Stewart. Pereira recorded nine birdies on the day, including five on the front nine.

Freshman Guillermo Pereira fired a 9-under par while sophomore Hannes Ronneblad and senior Clement Sordet carded a 5-under, 67 to propel No. 7 Texas Tech to the top of the leaderboard after round one of the 2014 Tavistock Collegiate Invitational at Lake Nona Country Club in Orlando.
The Red Raiders currently hold a three-stroke lead over second-ranked Florida State at 21-under, 267. The Seminoles stand at 18-under, 270 while 12th-ranked Vanderbilt is in third place at 17-under, 271. Top-ranked Illinois is in fourth place at 12-under, 276.

Ronneblad and Sordet are also in contention for medalist honors as both stand tied for fifth place at 5-under par. After bogeying back-to-back holes on 14 and 15, Ronneblad finished strong with a pair of birdies on 17 and 18. Sordet carded birdies on 14, 15 and 17 to put himself into a tie with Ronneblad.
