• Texas improved to 29-6 all-time against Texas Tech with the win, including a 14-2 mark in games played in Lubbock.
• The win clinched the series for the Longhorns, who have now won eight-straight series against Texas Tech dating back to 2005 when the two teams split a two-game set.
TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
• The loss extended Texas Tech's home losing streak to eight straight, the longest such run during Shanon Hays' tenure. The Red Raiders are currently 9-11 at Rocky Johnson Field this season.
• Texas Tech's four hits in the game marked its fewest since also connecting on just four against No. 1 Oklahoma on April 14 this year.
• The Red Raiders surrendered two home runs in the game - both to Taylor Hoagland - which marked just the eighth time Texas Tech had done so this year.
• Texas Tech's dropped to 16-6 on the year and 86-19 all-time under Shanon Hays when scoring in the first inning.
• Texas scored in the opening frame for the second-straight day, marking the 14th time this year an opponent has scored in the first inning. Texas Tech is 7-7 in those games now.
• The Red Raiders dropped to 0-7 on the year against top-25 teams and 18-41 all-time under Shanon Hays with the loss.
ATTENDANCE NOTES
• Texas Tech played in front of a season-high 932 fans, marking the second highest attended game in Rocky Johnson Field history. It was Tech's largest crowd since 1,248 fans attended the March 27, 2011 contest against Missouri.
Shanon Hays
• The loss dropped Hays to 264-90 overall and 150-74 while at Texas Tech. He is now 1-8 all-time against Texas.
Mikey Kenney
• Kenney connected on her 12th home run of the year and the 44th of her career with a solo shot in the first inning. The home run moved Kenney into a tie for 10th in Big 12 Conference history as she moved into a tie with Chelsi Lake (Baylor 2004-07), Heather Scaglione (Oklahoma 2002-05), and Serena Settlemier (Kansas 2002, 2004-06).
• The home run also marked the 196th run scored in Kenney's career, which moved her into a tie for seventh in Big 12 history with Kelli Braitsch (Oklahoma 2003-06). Kenney is already the Texas Tech all-time leader in the category.
Katelyn Williams
• Williams went 1-for-2 at the plate with a first-inning single that extended her hitting streak to seven-straight games which matches both her season and career highs.
Gretchen Aucoin
• Aucoin went a five innings in her third start during Big 12 play this year. It was the longest outing during league action for the freshman, who struck out four and gave up three runs during that span.
