• Texas Tech and IPFW are now 1-1 all-time against each other as Friday's contest marked the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
• The Red Raiders, meanwhile, improved to 8-1 all-time against UMKC and 4-0 this season alone. Texas Tech has won all four games via run-rule.
• Texas Tech ended both games via run-rule, giving the Red Raiders eight run-rule victories already this season.
• Texas Tech's 12 runs in the opener against IPFW marked the school's most since defeating Jackson State, 18-0, on March 1.
• Texas Tech's 14 hits against IPFW marked its second-most this season, three shy of its season high of 17 set against Jackson State on March 1.
• Led by Gretchen Aucoin in the circle, Texas Tech allowed just one hit to UMKC, marking the third one-hit performance by the Tech pitching staff this season.
Shanon Hays
• Hays picked up career win No. 250 in Texas Tech's 12-4 victory over IPFW. Hays is now 251-75 for his career and 137-59 in three-plus seasons at Texas Tech.
Shelby Johnson
• Johnson matched the Texas Tech school record for hits with five against IPFW as she went 5-for-5 with a season-high six RBI. She matched the record that was previously set by Stephanie Drewry on Feb. 27, 2009, against South Florida.
• Johnson's six RBI match the season high for a Red Raider this year that was set twice previously by Adriana Perez on Feb. 16 against Penn State and then March 1 against Jackson State.
• Johnson also had a bunt single in the second game against UMKC to extend her reached-base streak to 24 games to start the season. It is the longest streak to start a year since Emily Bledsoe reached in the first 34 games of the 2011 season.
Mikey Kenney
• Kenney recorded her second multiple home run game of the season as she belted a solo shot in the fifth and then a three-run blast in the sixth against UMKC. Kenney now has seven home runs on the season and 39 for her career.
• All three of Kenney's hits so far in the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic have gone for home runs as she is 3-for-9 with five RBI, eight runs scored and seven walks.
• Kenney drew four walks against IPFW in the opener, matching the Texas Tech single-game record that has been set twice previously by Cydney Allen (March 17, 2011 against Colorado State) and Alex Watkins (March 1, 2009 against Pacific).
Gretchen Aucoin
• Aucoin recorded her best performance in her young career against UMKC as she allowed just one hit in her first career complete-game win. The freshman also struck out a career-high nine batters, the most by a Tech pitcher this season.
Sandy James
• James combined to go 5-for-8 at the plate Saturday with three RBI. She belted her third home run of the season against UMKC on her way to finishing 3-for-4 with two RBI against the Roos.
• James now has eight multiple-hit games this season and six multiple-RBI performances.
Samantha Camello
• Camello went 2-for-4 against IPFW with three RBI, marking her fourth multiple-hit game this year. It was also the first time she had two or more RBI in a game as well.
Tess McPherson
• McPherson earned her first career start in the lineup against UMKC as she was the designated player and took one at-bat.
