TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES With the win, Kansas improves to 18-16 all-time against Texas Tech as the Jayhawks have now won 12 of the last 13 contests in the series.
Kansas also pulled even in the series when playing in Lubbock as the two teams are both 8-8 all-time in the Hub City.
After starting the year with eight-consecutive victories, the Red Raiders have now lost five times in their last eight matches, including four in a row.
The Red Raiders fell in the Big 12 Conference opener for the fifth-consecutive season as Texas Tech has not began league play with a win since defeating Colorado in 2007.
The loss dropped Texas Tech to 6-11 all-time in Big 12 openers. It also marked the first time the Red Raiders have ever opened league play against Kansas.
The Red Raiders finished the match with season lows in hitting percentage (.080), blocks (2), kills (33), and assists (31).
Don Flora
The loss dropped second-year head coach Don Flora to 295-81 as a collegiate head coach and a 26-22 record while at Texas Tech.
The Red Raiders dropped to 1-16 under Flora against Big 12 opponents. Texas Tech is also 0-3 against Kansas under Flora.
The loss dropped the Red Raiders to 8-7 under Flora when playing in the United Spirit Arena.
The Red Raiders also fell to 14-9 in three-set matches under Flora as well.
Lydia McKay
McKay finished in double digits for the fifth straight match as she tied her season high with 11 kills. It was the third time this year she has had at least a share of the team high in kills.
The freshman also totaled a .409 hitting percentage, marking the third time she has hit over the .400 mark this season. She has taken at least 20 attempts in each of the last four matches as well.
Rachel Brummitt
Brummitt finished with a team-high 12 digs in the match, which marked the 15th time she has reached double digits this season. She also led the Red Raiders in the category for the 15th time this season as well.
