Trey Masek Named No. 74 MLB Prospect by Perfect Game

Masek is one of six Big 12 players named to the Top 100 Prospects list

LUBBOCK, Texas - Perfect Game has named Texas Tech junior right-handed pitcher Trey Masek the No. 74 prospect for the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft.
Masek (Giddings, Texas) was the fifth highest Big 12 Conference player named to the "Top 100" list while he was ranked 10th among all collegiate players who had previously not been drafted.
Masek was also recently selected as the No. 28 prospect from the Cape Cod League by Perfect Game.
Since 2008, the only other Red Raider to be named to Perfect Game's "Top Prospects" list from the Cape Cod League is Barrett Barnes who was ranked No. 66 in 2010.
Masek has made 34 appearances in his two-year Red Raider career that includes a 7-8 record, 4.12 ERA with 17 starts and 17 relief opportunities. Masek has pitched 120 innings with 79 strikeouts and 49 walks allowed while opponents have batted .264 against him.
In 2012, as a sophomore, Masek went 2-4 with a 3.40 ERA in 18 appearances (6 starts) with 53 innings and 46 strikeouts with 20 walks allowed.
Last month Masek was named the No. 16 prospect in the Cape Cod League by Baseball America.
He pitched this past summer for the Falmouth Commodores where he was named a Cape Cod League All-Star. He went 3-3 with a 3.18 ERA in seven starts with 39.2 innings, 47 strikeouts and allowed 15 walks. He ranked fifth in the league in strikeouts.
