MIDLAND, Texas - The No. 22 Texas Tech Lady Raiders open the 2012-13 women's tennis season as a split squad at the Midland Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational this weekend.
Representing the Lady Raiders in the season-opening event are senior Sandra Dynka, junior Rashmi Teltumbde and freshmen Sofya Malysheva and Kelli Hine.
This year's field at the prestigious fall event includes Abilene Christian, Arkansas, Baylor, Davidson, Nebraska, Penn State, Rice, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, Texas, Texas-Arlington, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas State, Tulsa, Tyler Junior College and Wichita State.
Teltumbde, who is ranked No. 105 nationally, is seeded seventh overall in the tournament. Teltumbde, Dynka and Malysheva each received first round byes in singles, while Hines will face ACU's Britney Reed in the opening round.
In doubles action, Teltumbde and Malysheva will face TCU's Simona Parajova and Monika Sirilova in the first round, while Dynka and Hines will face Kim Anicete and Katie Gater.
