Sanders, Teltumbde Advance to ITA Texas Regional Doubles Final

Nikki Sanders teamed with Rashmi Teltumbde to advance to the ITA Texas Regional doubles final.

WACO, Texas - Nikki Sanders and Rashmi Teltumbde are one win away from capturing the ITA Texas Regional doubles championships at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The Texas Tech tandem of Sanders and Teltumbde have marched from the Round of 64 to the Finals by virtue of upsetting the field. On Monday, the pair dropped the sixth-seeded Texas duo of Aerial Ellis and Noel Scott, 8-4 in the quarterfinals and then topped Baylor's second-seeded Ema Burgic and Jordaan Sanford, 8-1 to advance to the finals.
Sanders and Teltumbde will face Stefania Hristov and Cristina Stancu of Texas A&M in the finals at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
In other action, Kenna Kilgo topped Texas State's Melissa Haddad, 6-2, 6-2 in the consolation singles quarterfinals, while teammate Sofya Malysheva came up on the short end against 12th-seeded Kseniya Bardabush of North Texas, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
Kilgo's run was halted in the semifinals, as 10th-seeded Edyta Cieplucha of SMU got by Kilgo, 6-2, 6-1.
