The win marked Texas Tech's first in a home opener since the 2007 season when the Red Raiders defeated Villanova in five sets.
Texas Tech had not previously defeated three-straight opponents in just three sets since topping Southern Mississippi, North Carolina AT&T, and Texas A&M-CC on Aug. 29-30, 2003, during the Islander Invitational.
The win was Tech's third-consecutive, marking its longest winning streak since beginning the 2008 season with a 3-0 outing at the North Texas tournament.
The Red Raiders have recorded more kills than their opponent in every match so far this season.
Amanda Dowdy moved into sole possession of third place on the school's career kills chart midway through the second set. The senior moved past Brande Brown's (1994-97) 1,084 career kills as she enters tonight's match against Northwestern State with 1,091 career kills.
Miara Cave's .615 hitting percentage marked a new career high, surpassing her previous high of .472 set just under a week ago against UConn.
Tory Vaughan came close to matching her career high for digs for the third time this season as she finished one shy with 12 digs.
The Red Raiders' 20 block assists in the match were the program's most since recording 25 against Kansas on Oct. 2, 2010.
