Texas Tech's Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo won the doubles tournament at the Racquet Club Invitational for the duo's first title together on Sunday.
"I thought it was a great weekend," head coach Todd Petty said. "It was special to see Sam and Kenna win the doubles. It was a great way to start the fall. By the end of the weekend everyone had played a quality match or two and really started playing well."
Adams and Kilgo won the semi-final round over Pepperdine's Khunpak Issara and Loraine Guillermo with a 9-7 decision to advance to the final.
Nebraska's No. 35 ranked Madeleine Geibert and Stefanie Weinstein stood in the way in the final. Short work was made of Nebraska, as Adams and Kilgo won 8-4 to take the title.
"I thought it was a good tournament and the best we have ever done at Midland," Petty said. "Kenna played extremely well and the experience is something to grow on."
Kilgo's run for the singles title was cut short in the semi-final round. She lost 6-4, 6-3 to TCU's Simona Parajova.
At the Sooner Fall Invitational, Haley Fournier won the consolation bracket over Wichita's State Carla Venticinque, 6-4, 6-3.
Her teammate Sandra Dynka fell in the fifth place consolation bracket to Barbora Krrickova of Armstrong Atlantic, 6-0, 6-1.
