The match was the first ever between the two schools. The Red Raiders are now 3-0 this year against schools from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Texas Tech moved its winning streak to 10-straight, which is the longest run since the start of the 1996 season where the Red Raiders opened 15-0.
The win was Texas Tech's 10th of the season, marking the first time the Red Raiders had broken the 10-win barrier since the 2006 squad went 12-17 under head coach Nancy Todd.
During Tech's 10-match winning streak, the Red Raiders have won seven of those away from Lubbock, which marks Tech's longest run since the start of the 2003 season.
The Red Raiders won the match in three sets for the ninth time this season, which is the most for Tech in a single-season since the 2002 squad ended 10 matches via a 3-0 sweep.
Tech held an opponent to a negative hitting percentage for the fourth time this season. Prairie View A&M's -.114 hitting percentage was the lowest for a Tech opponent since Grambling State recorded a -.155 average on Aug. 27.
The Red Raiders finished the match hitting .295 as a team, which was the ninth time this season Tech had hit .200 or better.
Amanda Dowdy has now recorded a double-double in eight of 11 matches this season as she now has 21 over her career. Dowdy picked up her 10th kill and 10th dig on Tech's final point in the match.
Dravon Rangel matched her career high with seven kills while also notching a new high in blocks with seven. Her career high in both categories was set just under a week ago against Grambling State.
