
Kilgo Advances at Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational

Freshman Kenna Kilgo advanced to the quarterfinals in both the singles and doubles draws in her first collegiate tournament held at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas.
"I was extremely proud of the way Kenna played today," head coach Todd Petty said. "She has made huge strides in the time she has been on campus and to play this well in her first collegiate tournament is exciting. We got a lot of experience and good matches today."
Kilgo won her first round match over Texas A&M's Dane Vorster 6-3, 6-2. She wasted little time advancing to the quarterfinal round beating Millie Nichols of TCU 6-4, 6-1. The freshman will play Katie Gater of Rice tomorrow in the round of 16.
Kilgo and Samantha Adams were paired together and received a bye in the first match of the year. In the second round, the duo beat Stefanie Tan and Sundaram of TCU 8-2 and advanced to the quarterfinals tomorrow.
Nikki Sanders won the super tiebreaker in her first match over Maria Martinez of UT-Arlington with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 10-7. She fell to TCU's Tan in the second round 6-2, 6-3.
Caroline Starck beat LSU's Ariel Morton 6-3, 6-3 in her first round match but fell to Perpperdine's Alejandra Granillo in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
Adams lost in a surprising first round match to New Mexico's Nikolina Grbac 2-6, 6-4, 10-8. She rebounded in a later consolation match and beat Nikola Matovicova of UT-Arlington 6-3, 6-4.
Stack and Sanders fell to Vickers and Farley of Tulsa, 8-5, in the first round of the double draw.
Tech had two at the Sooner Fall Invitational with Sandra Dynka and Haley Fournier.
Dynka won her first round match against Carla Venticinque of WSU 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (8) and will play Marie-Pier Huet of Oklahoma tomorrow.
Fournier dropped a three-set thriller to Micah Hermsdorf of ACU in 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (13). She will play Ilona Serchenko of North Texas tomorrow in the consolation bracket.
The duo dropped its first match to Armstrong Atlantic's duo of Armstrong and Filipovski 8-4. Dynka and Fournier will place in the consolation bracket against North Texas Lee and Starkova.
