
Women's Tennis Begins Fall Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team begins the fall season this Friday, Sept 14 at the Racquet Club Invitational in Midland, Texas, and the Sooner Fall Invitational in Norman, Okla.
The duo of Sandra Dynka and Haley Fournier will play singles and in doubles action at the Sooner Fall Invitational. Dynka was 4-4 in doubles last season and 13-6 in singles play. Fournier played the No. 6 position and was 19-11 in singles. Fournier teamed up with Elizabeth Ullathrone for a majority of last season and recorded a 22-9 record on the season.
Samantha Adams, Caroline Starck, Nikki Sanders and newcomer Kenna Kilgo will compete in the Racquet Club Invitational. Starck and Sanders both played as a team last year accumulating a 21-7 record together. Adams, who played No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles last season. Adams was 16-7 in singles play and 21-12 in doubles.
The Lady Raiders tennis team has found out three players have been selected to play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships. Ullathorne, Sanders and Adams will all play in the tournament held in Los Angeles, Calif., starting on October 1.
The ITA preseason rankings were announced this week and Tech was represented. Ullathorne is ranked No. 79 in the preseason singles rankings. The newly paired duo of Rasmi Teltumbde and Sanders open the season ranked at No. 54 in the preseason doubles poll. Teltumbde was ranked as high as No. 24 while at Virginia last season and Sanders finished the season with a 24-7 in doubles.
