TUCSON, Ariz. - Texas Tech used a seven-run first inning to rebound at the NCAA Tucson Regional, defeating Harvard, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in an elimination game at Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium.
The Red Raiders move on to play another elimination game later tonight against New Mexico State, who fell to host Arizona, 8-0, earlier in the day.
After back-to-back singles from Emily Bledsoe and Logan Hall, Sandy James drove the duo in with a single through the right side. Hall came across after right fielder Shelbi Olson misfielded the ball.
Taylor Powell kept the Tech scoring going with a bases-loaded bloop single over the bag in second that plated another run. Cydney Allen unloaded the bases with a three-run double to the gap in right, breaking the game open for the Red Raiders, who would add its final run on a RBI ground out from Ashley Hamada.
Tech's seven-run first inning marked its most in the opening frame since plating seven runs as well against Alcorn State on March 13.
In the circle, Kelsey Dennis and Brittany Talley combined to surrender only two hits to the Crimson as Dennis pitched the first four innings before giving way to Talley, who earned the save.
