The loss marked Texas Tech's 21st-straight at the hands of Texas as the Longhorns now maintain a 71-9-2 advantage in the series.
The Red Raiders dropped their 46th-straight match to a ranked opponent as Tech has not defeated a top-25 team since topping then-No. 20 Kansas State on Nov. 20, 2004.
The match marked the third against a ranked opponent this season for Tech, which has already faced the conference's three teams in the AVCA top 25 poll.
Texas' nine service aces marked a season high for a Tech opponent this season, surpassing the seven the Red Raiders gave up in their Sept. 19 match at North Texas.
The Red Raiders were nearly held without an ace for the second-straight match as Tory Vaughan dropped Tech's only one late in the third set. Tech has recorded only two aces over its last three matches.
Texas' .323 hitting percentage marked the highest for a Tech opponent this season and only the first time a team had been over .300 all year against the Red Raiders.
Tech is now 0-5 on the year when trailing in hitting percentage. The Red Raiders are also 1-5 when trailing in kills this season as well.
Amanda Dowdy failed to post a double-double for the second-straight match and only the fifth time all season. Her four digs marked her fewest since also having four against Texas-Pan American on Sept. 6.
Dowdy's 12 kills in the match moved her just 27 shy of tying Melissa McGehee for second all-time as the senior became only the third player to surpass 1,300 kills in a career. McGehee recorded 1,333 kills during the 1999-02 seasons.
