
Women's Tennis Begins Play at Racquet Club Invitational

LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech women's tennis squad will open their fall season at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas, beginning on Friday and continuing on Saturday and Sunday. Play begins each day at 9 a.m.
The Lady Raiders will compete in four singles and two doubles. The two doubles pairings are sophomore Caroline Starck and freshman Haley Fournier with sophomores Lorena Aviles and Sandra Dynka together.
In opening round singles matches, Haley Fournier plays Fernanda Perrota (Penn State). Sandra Dynka faces UTA's Maria Martinez and Caroline Starck meets Megan Moore (Pepperdine). Lorena Aviles takes on Texas A&M's Christi Liles in her first match.
In doubles play, Caroline Starck and Haley Fournier meet Nebraska's duo of Madeleine Geibert and Stefanie Weinstein. Sandra Dynka and Lorena Aviles open against Khunpak Issara and Ali Walters from Pepperdine.
The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational is an NCAA sanctioned event for men and women. Participation is by invitation only. The RCCI is a unique tournament where the players and coaches are housed with the members of The Racquet Club.
Eleven schools have student-athletes competing for the singles and doubles championships played on Sunday. In addition to the four Lady Raiders, Rice, UT-Arlington, Penn State, ACU, Nebraska, Boise State, Lamar, Pepperdine, Texas A&M, and Tulsa will add their singles and doubles entries.
Following the competition in Midland, the Lady Raiders will compete in the OU Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma, from September 24-26. Kelsy Garland, Elizabeth Ullathorne, Nikki Sanders, and Samantha Adams will play singles and doubles matches next week in Norman.
