Floren Leads Red Raiders In Day One Of Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior Nils Floren led the Texas Tech men's golf team in the opening round Friday afternoon as he turned in an even-par 72 score in the first day of the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic at The Farm Golf Club in Rocky Face, Ga.
Floren sits tied for 16th overall with six other players as the field heads into second round action tomorrow morning.
The Red Raiders finished the opening round in 11th place as a team after recording a 12-over 300 total for the day.
Senior Matt Smith shot a two-over 74 in the first round as he sits in 31st place individually, followed by teammates Sergio Franky and Will Griffin with a pair of 77s (5-over) while redshirt freshman Chandler Rusk rounded out the scoring with an 81.
Alabama claimed the top spot after the first round of competition while Clemson sits in second place and Auburn finished in third slot. Second round action is slated to begin early tomorrow morning.
