
Incoming Lady Raider Wins Central Circuit Title

LUBBOCK, Texas - The summer continues to be a successful one for members of the Texas Tech women's tennis team as incoming freshman Haley Fournier captured the Central Circuit singles title of the 2010 Summer Circuit presented by USTA (United States Tennis Association).
The Leawood, Kan., native, won all five matches last week en route to winning the title. In the first round, Fournier defeated Krissy Lankelma (Northern Iowa), 6-1, 6-0. In second round action, she dropped Laura Richardson (New Mexico), 6-1, 6-0. Fournier then went on to beat Ekaterina Morozova (Kansas), 0-6, 6-1, 10-4, in the quarterfinals. Morozova played No.1 singles for Kansas this past school year.
In the semfinals, Fournier was victorious over Dylan Windom (Kansas), who retired in the super-tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-2, retired.
Fournier then claimed the crown in straight sets as she defeated Mallory Weber (Missouri), 6-3, 6-2. Weber was Missouri's No. 2 singles player last season.
Fournier comes to Tech as a two-time high school All-American and has been ranked in the top 50 in USTA Girl's 18's singles and was ranked No. 1 in the Missouri Valley Section Girl's 18's singles as well.
