LUBBOCK, Texas - The rewards of the most prolific season in Texas Tech men's golf history since 1959 continue to pour in as senior Chris Ward was named to the PING Second Team All-America team earlier today.
Ward joins teammate Nils Floren who earned first team honors last week and that gives the Red Raider program two All-Americans for the 2010 season.
Ward was instrumental in helping Texas Tech earn its best national finish since 1959 as he tied a course record with a third-round score of 67 on the final day of stroke play at The Honors Course last Thursday. His round of 67 tied the previous course record held by golf great Tiger Woods that was set during his national championship run in 1996. Ward's round of 67 tied that of teammate Matt Smith and the two players helped clinch the No. 7 seed and gave the Red Raiders their first berth in NCAA match play.
Ward also became the first Red Raider to win an individual Big 12 Championship as he claimed medalist honors on April 25.
